Adidas is launching a partnership with the New York Cosmos in the fall to introduce the world to the latest in soccer cleat technology.
According to the company, the partnership will provide fans with the most up-to-date cleats in the world, which are designed for the modern player.
“We’re very excited to be working with the Cosmos on this partnership,” said Eddy Ruediger, the chief executive of Adidas Group.
“The New York City Soccer Federation has been a leader in innovation, and this partnership with Cosmos is a major milestone for our brand and for our Cosmos fans.”
The partnership will launch in 2019, with the first-ever Cosmos-Adidas soccer shoes expected to debut in 2019.
Adidas has been the largest sponsor of the New England Revolution since the club’s inception in 2010, and it will remain so for the foreseeable future.
The Cosmos have been one of the most successful teams in Major League Soccer since its inception in 2006, and the team is expected to field some of the league’s most potent attacking lineups this season.
The Cosmos have the fourth-highest points total in the league and will be without its captain, Justin Braun, who has a knee injury that could keep him out of the lineup.
The new partnership with Adidas is the latest sign of the brand’s commitment to soccer in the United States.
Adidas is also launching a pair of shoes featuring the team’s iconic logo.
The first shoe, the Adidas MLS 2, will be released this summer, and will feature a “Soccer City” crest on the upper.
The second shoe, Adidas MLS 3, will come out in 2018 and will include the team logo in the sole.
The Adidas MLS 1 and 2 shoes will be available in October and will mark the first time the Cosmos have ever worn their home uniforms.
